Waking up this morning allowed us to finally see Costa Rica in daylight. Driving from the airport the night before, we could see the city lights rise and fall on a black canvas landscape. Now we can see that it’s a beautiful rolling landscape surrounded by mountains and an active volcano!
A 7:45 breakfast at the Radisson was excellent. Plenty of options included the staple dish of rice & beans! We then left for Iglesia Cristiana Vida Nueva to worship with the community in Guarari. We were warmly welcomed, and Aubrey Hazel and Kaitlyn Mickey shared a short testimonies in front of the congregation. Praise God! The church staff provided lunch for us at the church. It was a delicious variation of rice and beans!
The next 3 hours, we played with a continually growing amount of children. It started with futbol, coloring and bubbles, but we eventually started some spontaneous programming. We taught the kids a few easy songs including the Papaya Song, and the a majority of our group acted out the story of The Three Trees. We connected to the idea that our greatest plans are too small for the plans God has for us. As we were playing our Sharks and Minnows game, it was apparent that our entire group was connecting with every single child on property. They were hugging and hanging on all of our team.
Our next stop was the beautiful community of Sarchi. It was a good hour drive up and down the mountains to the largest and most colorful oxcart in the world. We toured, shopped and ate I one of the most pristine areas in the San Jose area. Crazy Costa Rica traffic made for a long ride home, but it was a joy to hear our team laugh and share stories the whole way home.
Praying we all sleep well tonight and are ready for another full day of gospel opportunity:)
